Cracks are starting to emerge in Raila Odinga,s ODM Party as Senate Minority leader James Orengo has today opposed the election of Senator Ledama Ole Kina as Chairperson of the powerful County Public Accounts & Investiment Committee (CPAIC).
In a letter written to be House Speaker, he has further threatened to withdraw his party’s membership from the committee after the voting saw ODM’s favored candidate Senator Sam Ongeri loose his position to fellow ODM legislator Ladema Ole Kina.

As these events unfolded in the Senate, all fingers were being pointed at Deputy President William Ruto’s camp.
According to our source, the agreement was that the CPAIC chairperson goes to Prof. Sam Ongeri (Kisii Senator), to be deputized by Irungu Kang’ata, the Senator for Murang’a County,
Senators from both sides are said to have kept their word in voting for Sen. Kangata. But when it came to voting for CPAIC chair, senators from the tangatanga camp had another plan. With support from some ‘friendly’ ODM senators, they were to vote in Narok Senator Ole Kina instead of Sen. Ongeri as earlier agreed on.

Ole Kina had a deal with DP Ruto’s Tangatanga camp and caught most ODM senators by surprise when he got proposed by Jubilee Senators Millicent Omanga (Nominated) and Kimani Wamatangi (Kiambu) where he eventually garnered majority of the votes.
Word has that Senator Ole Kina who is already a member of two other Senate committees has for long been at loggerheads with other ODM senators due to his close working relations with tangatanga affiliated lawmakers.
It can also be remembered that Sen Ole Kina was slated to replace Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala as Senate Deputy minority leader.
However the move stalled as most ODM Senators were uncomfortable with Sen. Ole Kina with some claiming he was too independent.
