Tanzanian Health Authorities Inspect Ebola Screening On Ugandan Border
February 16th, 2020Tanzanian health authorities have inspected Ebola screening on its border with Uganda, a statement by the Ministry of Health said on Saturday.
The inspection of the Ebola virus screening on Friday at the Tanzania-Uganda’s Mutukula border was witnessed by a team of health experts led by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Zainabu Chaula, said the statement.
The statement said the health experts were joined by officials in the President’s Office responsible for Regional Administration and Local Government.
Chaula’s inspection was aimed at assessing if the government officials tasked with the screening of the Ebola virus were effectively implementing the outlined preventive measures in controlling epidemic diseases from spreading into the country, said the statement.
The statement added that Chaula was satisfied with the screening exercise and lauded the health officials for their commitment and hard work.
Tanzania is on high alert since August 2018 when the outbreak of the disease was first reported in neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo and a few reported cases in Uganda.
Update on Raphael Tuju’s Health

The Jubilee Party has issued an update on the health of Secretary-General Raphael Tuju who is currently admitted at the Karen Hospital.
Through a statement sent to newsrooms, the party stated that Tuju is responding well to treatment and has made good progress so far.
Further, Jubilee divulged that Tuju’s family has expressed satisfaction with the care the former legislator is getting.
“He is responding well to treatment and making good progress in his recuperation.
“As a party, we are in close contact with his immediate family and they have expressed satisfaction with the level of care being provided,” read the statement signed by Communications Director Albert Memusi.

Tuju was on Wednesday involved in a road accident at Kijabe along Nakuru-Nairobi Highway.
He was headed to Kabarak for the late President Daniel arap Moi’s burial.
His Prado collided with a matatu. Tuju had emergency surgery at Kijabe Hospital before being airlifted to Karen Hospital in Nairobi.
Former Captain Joseph Yobo Appointed Nigeria’s Assistant Coach
February 15th, 2020Former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo has been appointed as the assistant coach of the Nigerian national team.
A statement from the Nigerian Football Federation on Thursday said Yobo will replace Imama Amapakabo in the team’s technical bench.
However, some fans took to social media to question the appointment of the former player who, they argue, has not accumulated enough experience or qualifications for the job.
At club level, Yobo played for a number of European clubs including English clubs Everton, whom he also captained, and Norwich City and Turkish side Fenerbahce.
Internationally, Yobo represented Nigeria 100 times making his debut in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match away to Zambia in April 2001.
Yobo, 39, played in three FIFA World Cup finals (2002, 2010 and 2014) and six Africa Cup of Nations finals (2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2013). He captained the Super Eagles to victory in the 2013 AFCON in South Africa. His 10 appearances in World Cup finals are the most for Nigeria.
Ruto throws Echesa under the bus in Sh39.5 billion scam

Deputy President William Ruto has disassociated himself from a Sh39 billion military equipment tender scam former Sports CS Rashid Echesa has been adversely mentioned in.
Echesa is a close ally of the Deputy President.
Ruto lashed out at the Standard newspaper which ran a story linking him to the scam.
The DP took to social media on Saturday to accuse his rivals of being behind an alleged ‘smear campaign’ against him.
Insurance Companies Suspend Services at Nairobi Women’s Hospital Over Bill Inflation Claims
February 5th, 2020Three insurance providers have ceased services at the Nairobi Women’s Hospital after claims of bill inflation emerged.
The firms, AAR, CIC and Old Mutual have given out statements suspending their insurance services and advising their customers to seek medical services in other facilities in their panel.
A series of WhatsApp messages were leaked on what appears to the management WhatsApp group showing how the hospital set daily targets for the number of patients they should be admitted in a day.
The WhatsApp chats show that the revenue, commissions, admissions and discharge numbers were being actively monitored hourly, every day, and day and night by the chief executive officer, Dr. Felix Wanjala.
The WhatsApp group named Team Nakuru Hyrax shows messages of the Nairobi Women’s Hospital in Nakuru CEO Dr.Felix Wanjala ordering the doctors to increase the numbers, “Team we are starting on very bad numbers, lock discharges”.
We bring to your attention that we have suspended services at the Nairobi Women’s Hospital and all its branches for all our members due to operational challenges. The operation takes effect from 5th February 2020,” read a statement by the AAR Insurance.
Western: Man Impregnates Visiting Mother-in-Law
January 30th, 2020A 32-year old man in Webuye has surprised his village after impregnating his mother-in-law. Kelvin Waliuba, according to his wife, did not deny having an intimate affair with her 43 years old mother.
Ms Nekesa, Waliuba’s wife, blamed herself for having invited her mother to help babysit their 5 months old daughter.
“I am full time employee and I don’t have enough money to hire a househelp. I therefore invited my mother to come over and help as I make plans to get a househelp” Said Nakesa.
Mr Waliuba who works as a gardener in a neighbouring school is said to have been sneaking back into the house and engaging in lovemaking with the 43 year old mother.
According to the mother-in-law, she has been single and therefore didn’t see any problem with what she did.
“I am not married and was struggling with intense dryspell. I found it hard to reject Kelvin advances”, Said the Mother-in-law.
Luhya elders are now planning a cleansing ceremony for the family as this is considered as a great taboo.
“This is a taboo. We are going to conduct a cleansing ceremony for him and his mother. The child the mother-in-law is carrying is at great risk” Said Mzee Buke, a village elder.
China’s Coronavirus Hospital Constructed in 48 Hours
January 29th, 2020Dabie Mountain Regional Medical Centre is the first dedicated coronavirus hospital.
China has opened its first coronavirus hospital after about 500 workers and volunteers spent just 48 hours converting an empty building.
Two pop-up hospitals are currently being built from scratch to treat patients with the SARS-like virus that has killed more than 130 people in the country.
The first hospital, called the Dabie Mountain Regional Medical Centre, opened with 1,000 beds in a disused building in Huanggang on Tuesday night.
It is expected to relieve some of the pressure on doctors and nurses in Hubei province – the epicentre of the outbreak – where overwhelmed hospitals were running out of beds, masks and other supplies as they were inundated with patients.

Hired Mercenaries Out to Destabilize Busia Sugar Operations

Emerging details indicated that most of these mercenaries are usually political goons for hire during campaigns in general elections to destabilize political opponents’ bids to enter county assembly, national assembly, senate or gubernatorial seats and are being hired to sabotage industries.
