Raila At Uhuru Park

NASA principal Raila Odinga took the oath of office as the People’s President of the Republic of Kenya at Uhuru Park today, 30th, January, 2018.

Now, Raila has been on the forefront in fighting for democracy and social justice for the longest time than anyone around in Kenya today.

[wp_ad_camp_2] Most of his peers have either retired, bought, dead or have fallen to the forever enticing ‘dance with my tribesmen’.

As soon as Raila was sworn in his status changed from a common mwananchi to that of a ‘president’ commanding a legion of followers.

His aides changed his twitter bio to include the words, ‘President of the Republic of Kenya’, even his Wikippedia page was changed to reflect the new status.

The oathing today has so much significance in the fight for what Raila has forever believed in: social justice.

One cannot fight injustice by being nice always, one must include such acts as violence and civil disobedience.

Raila’s way has always been Civil Disobedience. Now civil disobedience comes in many forms including what has happened today.

The significance is that, if this can be done, what cannot? I will leave you to your imagination on that Moreover, though the UhuRuto regime and its militia police force restrained from attacking NASA supporters and the supporters of the UhuRuto regime have scoffed at the Swearing In ceremony.

It remains to be seen if the regime will go ahead with its threat to arrest and charge Raila Odinga.

[wp_ad_camp_2] All that is evident now is that Raila Odinga has fulfilled his part of the bargain to his constituency; he has defied the system and sworn himself in as the People’s president.

Now, the ball is on Kenyans court to decide if they can continue abetting a regime that has looted the public coffers, legitimized corruption, killed fellow Kenyans in cold blood, amassed debt, done useless infrastructure projects and left the cost of living to run riot.
