Nambale Police On The Spot For Aiding Local Pubs To Break Covid Rules

Even as Covid numbers continue to surge in the Country, residents of Nambale risk contracting Corona virus as the area Police commander has allowed the owner of ‘Status’ pub to operate with impunity without adhering to the laid down covid protocols.

Yesterday the club hosted a local Benga musician where revellers streamed in to their hundreds without wearing masks where they danced and hugged as clearly shown in the pictures.

According to one of the local revellers who didn’t want to be mentioned because of his own security, said the owner of the pub who is only known as Onyango enjoys full protection of the local police Commander who is said to have sanctioned yesterday’s disco.

“You cannot tell me that the Nambale police Commander whose station is hardly 100 meters away from the club is not aware that there is a disco in town when the noise can be heard as far as a kilometer away”, the source said.

“I was shocked to see that most of the people who were inside had come from outside Nambale with some having come as far from Nairobi, Siaya and Busia town under the invite of the pub owner and some who said had followed the performing artist as is the norm”, he said.

He added,”I decided to leave when I realised that the place had gotten filled up instantly so I feared for my safety keeping in mind that those inside had no masks hence high chances of attracting covid”.

The revellers started streaming into the pub as early as 2pm and by 7pm the place was parked to the brim where they danced, hugged and kissed carelessly as though Nambale was immune to the corona virus.
