Why President Uhuru Skipped Kakamega Medical Equipment Launch

The president skipped the planned launch of the medical equipment at the Kakamega referral hospital during his western province visit that started on Thursday 14th December 2016 because there were no lights in some parts of the hospital Angaza News can authoritatively reveal.

For years now, the hospital has remained archaic both in infrastructure and services while most medical facilities in other Counties in the country have undergone a complete metamorphosis with Kisii, Nakuru,Bomett and Kisumu leading pack.

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya (L) & The Referral Hospital

In Western region the story is totally different as there is nothing to write about the medical facilities in Kakamega, Busia and Bungoma where they still refer their cases to the Moi Teaching and Referal Hospital (MTRH).

This is state of affairs is contrary to the background of a county like Kakamega which receives huge revenue allocation and whose governor has a rich CV of having led the planning docket in the previous governments and more so successfully spearheaded the vision 2030 project.

It’s time for the opposition to take stock of the skeletons in their backyard even as they take the Jubilee government to account. The visibly agitated President said and I quote “hospitali haina fence na hata bulb ya shilingi hamsini, hawawezi weka?”-

This hospital has no fence and even they are unable to fix a bulb worth Ksh 50 only.

This are measures within the ability of someone in the county but because there is no leadership, everything has been left to the dogs. For those in leadership, Senators, Mps, Governors and MCAs should be aspired for those positions to lead, spur development and bring the county to the level that is desired. If this is not done then constituents will always to travel to other counties to enjoy such essential services.
