The County Government of Busia has given priority to ongoing projects in the Financial Year 2021/2022.
This is contained in the Budget and Appropriation Committee Report on the Sh8.4billion Budget Estimates for FY 2021/2022 that was unanimously passed today by members during a special sitting of the Assembly.
The report that was tabled by the Budget and Appropriation Committee chairman, Hon Linus Asiba and seconded by Hon Grace Olita was subjected to 15 amendments before Speaker, Hon Bernard Wamalwa put the question after members saw no point to debate on the report.
Preference was also given to the projects that have been identified by the communities as of high priority through participatory processes.
Spending from public funds will target flagship/strategic interventions and programmes that have been identified in the CIDP 2018-2022, Annual Development Plans, and the County Fiscal Strategy Papers of the fiscal year 2021/2022.
The overall County Government development budget is Sh2.7b (32.4%) of the total expenditure estimates comprising Sh2.38b for mainstream development and Sh350m (14.6%) of the total development budget for ward based development projects.
