President Uhuru Kenyatta has been forced to intervene in the protracted legal battles that have over the last three years plagued and stalled the construction of the first multi-billion shillings sugar factory in Busia County.
The factory is being constructed at Busibwabo in Matayos sub-county by Busia Sugar Industries, but since its inception has been plagued by legal battles attempting to stop its construction engineered by a competitor West Kenya Sugar Company.
Speaking in Nambale town of Nambale sub-county President Kenyatta said: “I am personally going to reach out to the two investors to withdraw the pending cases in the law courts against each other for the good of the people and progress in development.”
Elected Leaders Failed the Sugar Industry
June 9th, 2017The former and current elected leaders from the country’s sugarcane belts are to blame for the crisis that is currently plaguing and threatening the survival of the country’s sugar industry with total collapse.
The leaders totally failed to lobby for, craft and enact legislation that protects sugarcane millers and farmers including support from the government like that enjoyed by tea and coffee farmers throughout the country.
The worst aspect of this crop of elected leaders is that instead of fighting for the interests of the farmers and the millers have turned out to be predators that prey on the millers to satisfy their personal interests.
Uhuru Says Economic Saboteurs To Hang

President Uhuru Kenyatta has today issued a stern warning to those caught vandalizing the new Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) saying that he shall not hesitate to append his signature for one to hang upon conviction.
Uhuru who was addressing wananchi during the launch of the first SGR commuter train from Mombasa to Nairobi today also asked Kenya Railways not to charge passengers traveling on the Economy class more than Ksh 700. [wp_ad_camp_2]
