Kenya Airways CEO Mbuvi Ngunze to Quit First in Quarter 2017


The Chairman Board of Directors Kenya Airways Limited Michael Joseph has written to the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), indicating that Mr Mbuvi Ngunze will be stepping down as the Chief Executive Officer in the first quarter of 2017.

A statement from the airline’s management said “Today Mbuvi Ngunze is announcing that he will be leaving KQ effective first quarter 2017, ”

Mr Ngunze’s successor should be known within the next three month. He has worked for KQ for over five years as Managing Director and two years as CEO.

Prior to joining KQ Mr Ngunze held various senior positions in subsidiaries of French multinational Lafarge, and joined KQ as the chief operating officer (COO) in 2011.

He holds a bachelor of commerce degree, accounting option, from the University of Nairobi and is a chartered accountant (England and Wales).
