Mount Kenya University closes Indefinitely

The Mount Kenya University has closed its Thika campus indefinitely.

In a later dated 9th October 2017 and signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stanley Waudo said and I quote, “Following consultations and assessment of the current situation, the University Senate has resolved to suspend learning and operations indefinitely at the Cumpus”, end of quotes.

The letter went on to say that all students were advised to vacate the premises by midday today. Efforts to reach the VC for comments were futile as his mobile phone went unanswered.

This comes barely one week after the University of Nairobi closed all its campuses after students went on rampage to protest against the police whom they accused of entering the hostels and brutally beating up students who were protesting the arrest of Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
