A firm associated to National Assembly majority leader Hon. Aden Duale is at the center of discussion over the state of the roads in Busia County.
Gabal contractor is being accused of abandoning madende-Buyofu road which is under construction making it impassable to both vehicles and other road users.
Residents of Madende are now calling on their area MP John Sakwa Bunyasi to intervene and ensure that the road is completed.
The residents say that despite the Treasury paying hundreds of millions to the contractor, no work has been done on the road.
They have threatened to demonstrate and kick the contractor out of Busia if he is unable to continue with the job. ” We demand that light is shade on this matter because from the look of things the contractor seems to have eaten our money”, Benson Oruma said.
But in a quick rejoinder an aide to Hon. Bunyasi defended the contractor saying that after being contacted the contractor assured the area MP that work will resume immediately the rains are over.
He asked the residents to be calm as Bunyasi has promised to engage the contractor to see that the works commences as soon as the rains subsidizes.
