Even as the NASA presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga and his co-principal Musalia Mudavadi are appealing to wananchi to vote for candidates within the NASA umbrella, the Busia branch Amani National Congress (ANC) chair Chris Chesa and Matayos parliamentary ANC candidate Catherine Omanyo aka Kipepeo have today endorsed Dr. Paul Otuoma who is contesting for Busia gubernatorial seat on an independent ticket against their own ANC candidate Humphreys Nakitari and Sospeter Ojaamong of ODM both of NASA.
Addressing the crowd in Busia town Chesa who had accompanied Otuoma to the IEBC where he had gone to present his papers called on the residents to come out in large numbers on August 8 and vote for Otuoma.
It is not yet clear why the duo had to endorse an independent candidate to contest against one of their own when the party leader Musalia Mudavadi was very categorical that NASA shall only campaign for candidates within the Alliance.
But speaking to Angaza News on phone from Busia town Wycliff Egesa termed the move by Chesa and Omanyo to support Otuoma as personal saying that there is no way they shall vote in Otuoma to replace Ojaamong since non of them was better than the other. He accused the two for being driven by their own selfish interests. “If we were to vote out Ojaamong we better replace him with Nakitari who is free from corruption other than Otuoma whose own backyard of Funyala has vowed not to vote for him” said Egesa.
